Located in the recently renovated Washburn Arts Center, the Department has fully equipped classrooms, studios, and labs in an environment that encourages creativity, collaboration, and the development of individual expression. The student experience in the Department is enriched by an ongoing arts exhibition series and by visiting artists who offer master class and lectures.

Gallaudet's Art Department maintains two state-of-the-art graphic design/digital media studios that include (30) G5 MacIntosh computers, a Phaser 7700 color printer, and two Smart Boards. Software includes Adobe's Master Creative Suite 3 (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat, Dreamweaver, Flash, After Effects, Fireworks, Premiere Pro, Soundbooth, Encore and more). Students not only have access to today's latest technology, but also are fully supported through our IT Department.

Art Department requirements for technology and supplies:

Technology considerations for graphic design and digital media students:

At the junior and senior level, students are encouraged to purchase their own laptops and corresponding software. This ease of access further encourages exploration and development and serves to reinforce ideas being discussed in the classroom.
